Safeguarding at Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School

At Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to ensuring that all children are safe, happy, and supported in an environment where they can learn and thrive.

This page provides key information and guidance about safeguarding for our whole school community, including parents, carers, pupils, and staff, to help everyone stay informed, vigilant, and empowered to protect children.

Every member of our community shares a collective responsibility to uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection. Whether you are a member of staff, a parent, a governor, or a visitor, we all play a vital role in keeping our pupils safe.

Together, we create a culture of care, trust, and vigilance, ensuring that every child feels valued, listened to, and protected.

Online Safety Information for Parents

Online Safety and Digital Awareness

Today’s children are growing up in a very different world from the one we did. With instant access to websites, apps, and social media, they can sometimes experience online pressures that are difficult for adults to understand — communicating in ways that may feel unfamiliar to many of us.

At Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School, we believe that educating children to use technology safely and responsibly is a vital part of their development. It’s important for parents and carers to understand the potential risks their children may face online and to know what steps they can take to protect, guide, and support them.

Equally important is knowing where to go for help and advice if you have a concern about your child’s online activity or wellbeing.

The CEOP’s “thinkuknow website” can offer resources and support:

www.thinkuknow.co.uk CEOP’s website aims to offer “the latest information on the sites you like to visit, mobiles and new technology. You can find out what’s good, what’s not and what you can do about it. If you look after young people there’s an area for you too – with resources you can use in the classroom, at home or just to get with it. Most importantly, there’s also a place which anyone can use to report if they feel uncomfortable or worried about someone they are chatting to online.” This information is brought to you by the team at the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.
